Yvette J., suffered an anoxic brain injury and a coma. The brain injury caused visual and mobility impairments but that has not kept her from creating. Yvette is grateful for her life and appreciates the role that the arts have had in her recovery. Though lack of sight makes art-making difficult she enjoys painting and patchwork quilting. She also partakes in poetry writing. Her creative work improves her attitudes, making her feel more secure and safe, as well as positive and more centered. This example was created for an Art From the Heart Exhibition.
