"Road to Recovery" 24' x 30' 2008
By Paul D.
Paul is a brain injury survivor and an active participant of the Fine
Arts Program, engrossed in drawing and painting. He is a quiet,
thoughtful, humorous fellow in his early thirties who may surprise one
with a wry comment at any moment. He always enjoyed art back to his
early school days and remembers, with pride, that his high school art
teacher purchased his paintings.
Paul often depicts landscape images as well as portraits. His paintings
have an ethereal, spacious, open quality as if air is moving through
them. He also draws and paints intriguing abstract images as exemplified
here. While he enjoys both acrylic and watercolor painting, he is an
exceptional watercolorist who employs the negative white space of his
images most effectively. He participates regularly in community-based
exhibitions such as the Muddy Cup Gallery in Kingston and the Ellenville
Hospital and Library Galleries.
