"Inside the Cave" 16" x 20" 2006
By David M.
David acquired a brain injury as a result of a violent act. As a
young child and adolescent he enjoyed both two and three-dimensional
art. Moving through the upbeat Art Studio stimulates these memories.
In his first visits to the Art Studio David enjoyed touching art
materials and experimenting with them occasionally for short periods.
Over time he began drawing and painting images on paper and canvass.
Repeatedly he exhibited a kind of cave or rainbow-like iconography as
evidenced in this example. Gradually he has become more responsive and
capable of longer periods of concentration. He says that making art and
being in the Art Studio makes him happy. He is interested in
continuing to grow both his art and himself in this milieu.
