Karl had never painted or made art before coming to Northeast Center. A brain injury as a result of a motor vehicle accident changed Karl's life. Formerly he had no creative interests until he came to Northeast Center. Karl discovered the Fine Arts Program. To his delight he invented a way of painting reminiscent of Jackson Pollack though he was not familiar with this Abstract Expressionist artist, as seen in this example. He comes to paint daily in the Art Studio with great enthusiasm. He is seeking fulfillment, planning on and looking forward to reintegration to his community. "Painting makes me proud and happy," Karl notes and he is
exploring new painting approaches. When he returns to the community Karl
plans to continue making art and selling his works.
