"Beloved Stream" 12' x 16' 2008
By John G.
Formerly a truck driver, hunter, and outdoorsman, John suffered a brain
stem contusion due to a car accident, bringing him to Northeast Center.
He has been drawn into the Art Studio through the beautiful,
dynamic work of others, gradually building up his courage to try his
hand at painting. In this example he has expressed a waterway he
remembers from his youth, a much beloved place. John has also tried
acrylic painting in an abstract style and hopes to work on sculptural
projects. He is excited to begin painting bluestone components that will
become part of the ongoing Sculpture Garden on the campus of
Northeast Center. He is still a bit surprised that he is an artist and
that he can improve his artistic skills, but daily his confidence grows.
