Dontay. is a sensitive, twenty six year old man from New York City who works through challenges from ataxia, speech and cognitive issues as a result of a brain injury from a motor vehicle accident. Dontay was an athlete before his injury. He had no experience making art as a youth. The Art Studio drew Dontay in as a curious observer, but it
took a long time before he was ready to put pencil to paper. Little by
little he took the exploratory steps. As a butterfly coming out of a
cocoon, he began to realize that he too could create wonderful images
and sculptures. A Calm Desert Sun exemplifies a subtle early
painting.
